The importance of Education: The rider must strive to really understand what he is doing. An educated rider will make the best decision for the problem at hand. This can be in the care of the horse, working with the Vet, or in their training or competing of the horse. The more the rider studies all these aspects of horsemanship the more questions he will have about how to solve the problems better. From this comes a profound understanding of the relationship we have with the horse. How he thinks, what works and what doesn’t. An educated horseman who has studied well will understand the meaning of the old saying: “
You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink.”
We offer a complete training program for the serious student of Horsemanship. From working student programs to weekly lessons. A student can book with us to travel to the shows locally or International. They can come for a period of intense training or spend an extended period of time and learn how we care, train and compete our horses. If time is a limiting factor many of our students truck in for weekly lessons. We also give the same programs for the horse. He can be brought weekly for hourly sessions, stabled for more intense training and conditioning or sent with us to compete and build a more solid foundation.
Tailored Programs
All our programs are tailored for the individual rider and horse. We will only go at the pace that is best for each. We want long term results not quick rewards. This is achieved through progressive work, not quick fix ways for short term results.
The Facility
Our facility is made to allow for quality results. The best footing, a trainer for conditioning, long gallop up and down hills and miles of dirt roads for the horses brain and condition. The riding house is quiet and spacious with plenty of light. The outdoor ring is 35 x 75 meters giving plenty of room to play! Large paddocks invite the horse to enjoy his space. The stable and grooming area are made for enjoyment by both the horse and rider. Clinics are offered at Svartesjö Gård by outside clinicians who also follow the ideals of the classical systems. These clinics will be posted in our EVENTS page. Clinics and lectures are available by Jim Ritter and also can be found on our events page or asked for by e-mailing this site.
